Underage Consumption in TN

I have a couple of questions that would greatly be apprectiated if somebody can answer them with as much detail as possible.

My friend (age 18) was recently given a misdemeanor for underage consumption in Tn, the cop asked him if he had be drinking and he replied with only a couple beers. He was never given the breath analyzer test. He has never gotten in trouble with the law before and was wondering if he should look into getting a attorney or what to plea in court to see if he can keep it off his record if possible. He is also a full time college student and athlete.

if not what are the penalties that can be givin to him? from the minimum to the maximum punishments.

thank you

Get an attorney, the attorney has a good chance of working a plea deal.
he should get some public service, a fine and the charges would be droped, ( no record) But get the attorney

Get a good attorney, it all depends on what county here in Tenn. Here in Tipton county, no big deal. But Rutherford county.....boy he could be in trouble.

MOWERMAN2468 agrees: So true, j9, different counties do look at it a little differently than others. at least with an attorney he may not get messed over as bad.

Always get an attorney. He definetly needs an attorney. And he may get probation, court costs, and a fine. But he probably will not go to jail. The most important thing is that he retains an attorney.
