travel to Canada for convicted felon

Having been convicted of a State Jail Felony in Texas in 1996 will there be an issue with entering Canada on a business trip?

Not at all, they only ask for a drivers license and sometimes a birth certificate.

Hello jr:

There certainly could be. Canada does not want felons traveling to their country, and they have access to our NCIC computer system at their ports of entry where your felony will show up. If you drive, they might wave you through. Or they might not. If you fly, they'll for sure know about you. Will they send you back? Wouldn't surprise me if they did.

You CAN get pre-approved for travel into Canada with a felony. Go to their website to find out how.

Hi, didnt want to disagree but this isnt correct. Yes they only ask for a driver's license but they enter your name into a computer, that computer has access to everyone's police records from all of North America so they will most likely see this conviction.

As said above, you can contact the Canadian consulate and ask if it will prevent you from entering and what you can do to be allowed entry.
