Theft under 5000

I was recently charged with theft under 5000. I was wondering being a first time offender with no previous criminal record if there was some way to pay plead guilty and get out of the trail? I know that often first time offenders often get no criminal record but sometimes have to pay a fine. Is there someway to pay and get out of the trial date without obtaining a criminal record?
I also have another question. What can i expect from the police leading up to the trial? I know that i have to get fingerprinted and mugshots done- but i heard that they come to your house and also phone your house. Is this true? When can i be expecting this reletively to the trial
THanks so much

Hello jane:

There's no answer to your questions. Every case is different. The one thing that is constant in every case is that you should have a lawyer and you shouldn't talk to the cops.

I have another question- i live in windsor which borders to detroit and i always go over to the states... will i be able to go to the states because i have this pending on my record... i haven't been found guilty yet because i haven't had my court day- before court will i be able to get over? If i have a criminal record after court will i be able to get over?
