I am currently on probation ...just into my first year and a half of a 5 year probation sentence for check fraud...anyway...I recently got a shoplifting charge in New Jersey( also where my probation is) I went to court this morning and I guess because of my prior criminal history the judge referred me directly to Pre- Indidtment Screening..the amount was $360.00...I know people say this all the time but the stuff wasn't mine...but I was the one who had the bag and walked out of the store....my friend's cousin was the actual thief but the store security said unless that person is willing to take the responsibility...it's on me...basically my probation officer was like...you need to try and get it dismissed or downgraded...what type of penality am I looking at?

They'll probably give you basically NOTHING on the shoplifting beef. But it's gonna be enough to violate your probation. You'll do some time on that.
