| I would say yes. There are people I sometimes feel I would like to do away with. Why don't I? Because I fear the consequences more than I feel the desire. The consequences of committing murder are execution and/or prison. But even if I am able to dodge those, the publicity of being accused also acts as a deterrent.
The problem is that it only acts as a deterrent for ethical and moral people. If one commits murder in the heat of the moment, I doubt if they stop to think about consequences. If one plans a murder, they probably don't beleive they will get caught, so consequences don't matter to them. |
