    Misdemeanor or Felony - 1993/1994
I had gotten into trouble when I had just turned 18 (now 31) - I believe I have 4 charges of theft by deception and 4 counts of bad checks. All were misdemeanors in PA back in 1993. Has this changed since then and what shows on my record? I had a background check done when I was first hired by my employer and that had shown 7 different counts of 7 different charges me and my girlfriends were almost charged with, but we ended up getting the 4 & 4 listed above. I thought only your actual convictions were listed on your background checks, but apparently not. Can anyone clue me in on these questions of mine? Is there anything I can do to get this off my record?

A lot will depend today on what computer company they hire to do your background check.

On the "OFFICIAL" report the police do, the public record will only show your convictions. ** the complete police report available to the police or any company with a national security background check, a complete record of all convictions and arrests are available.

But remember there are dozens if not 100's of companies doing background checks besides going down to the police department and having one ran. These computer companies have access to all sorts of records and are not subject to the rules that require the police departments only to give out certain info.
