If the age of consent is 17, you should be fine. Unless they have a different age for homosexual relationships.

dating? no legalities involved. Sex? possibly. check with your state's age of consent.
As far as other things go, why a 17 year old? I mean...I always question gaps that are so large...as a 24 year old is probably on their path to a career...or grad school, while a 17 year old is probably looking into taking her SATs...prom...or going to college. What kind of bond can exist?
Of course, I'm not one to criticize love...but how would you react to a 24 year old guy going after a 17 year old girl...?
