Well if you leave without permission, there will be a warrant for your arrest, so you reallly can't ever come back to the US unless you go to jail.

You can not legally leave without permsission

Hello m:

Leaving might not be a problem, but arriving might be. There's a lot of countries that won't let in if you don't have a passport or a visa.

I have one question here in this aspect.
Say if a person is in US on temporary visa (eg.student visa), and being convicted of a crime is placed on supervised probation.
What if the person wants to leave US, go back to his home country and never return back.
Will he be allowed to leave.

No, he won't be allowed to leave. He can do anything he wants to once he is off probation.

You have to aprove the leave through your PO. If you don't return you will have a warrant issued for your arrest. If you ever choose to come back, you will have to do your probationary time in jail.

Twinkiedooter: How can you be so sure about that.
If the person is on student (F1) visa, he has to attend the school regularly and for that he has to pay thousands of dollars (average $7000 per semester). Being on F1, he is not authorised to work off campus. And also even he completes the school, with the criminal conviction he is not going to get a descent job.
So what is the fun of making him forcefully stay in US.
Why is not he allowed to go back to his home country and get his life there.
Say if his F1 visa expires, then it will be ridiculous to ask him to stay back in US just to complete his probation.

Hello pareg:

Because he committed a crime here and he's under a criminal sentence from the court... Because he's a foreigner, doesn't give him any special rights from our courts.

You don't think that you can go to a foreign country, break one of THEIR laws, and expect to be shipped home, do you? That isn't the way the world works.

Exactly just because you are not from the US does not mean you can just do something illegal and then go home! Not only that they never even said they were on a visa, so what would that have to do with anything?
