Probation in the military

Will a soldier get into trouble if he is sentenced to 1 year probation while he is currently serving in the National Guard? I know the military has a policy of not accepting applicants who still have probation obligations. But what happens once that person has already joined? Are there any negative consequences?

FYI: He is less than one year into a six year committment. His unit knows about the charges (misdemeanor property crime) so delayed sending him to boot camp as planned this summer. However, because he is accused of committing over $1500 worth of property damage, he may have to chose going on probation rather than a face a larger jail sentence.
