If my son is charged with a felony in Indiana, could he move to Florida with charges.

Asked Aug 11, 2012, 08:19 AM — 1 Answer
My son is charged with a felony in Indiana, but because he has no place to stay here anymore, he wants to move to Florida. Can the charges follow him to Florida and if found guilty serve his time in Florida? Does he need a lawyer to do this? Thank you.

No the charges will not "follow him" and no he can not "serve his time" in FL.

If his bail bondsmen will give him permission, he can travel to Fl till he has to return to Indiana to stand trail, but he will have to do trial in Indiana and will have to serve his prison time in Indiana. If changed he needs an attorney in Indiana as soon as possible.

Also if he would get probation for some reason, it can be transfered to Fl but can take 1 to 2 months to have it arranged.
