How to write a letter to the court to file a motion to dismiss criminal record
I need help writing a letter to the court. I was convicted of a felony charge and a misdemeanor charge about 4 years ago. I have met all the requirements and want to clean my record. I filed a motion to dismiss and set a court date. It turns out I can't make that date and want to write a letter to the judge asking him to grant my request in my absence. Can you help me with what to say in the letter?

You must attend this hearing. Just call up his Judicial Assistant and get another court date. Don't annoy the Judge by not showing up. I would not annoy the Judge and ask for a different date for this. I'd rearrange MY schedule to fit the Judge's schedule instead. Surprised that you got a hearing considering it's only been 4 years since your conviction. Usually you have to wait at least 8+ years to get the court to even consider this. Rearrange your schedule.

SO you already didn't show up for a court date? If this isn't important enough to make time to attend... then why is is so important to try to get it dismissed.

Judges look at your history and behaviour when rendering a decision on any and all requests... etc. Blowing off court dates only makes it more unlikely you will ever get what you want. They see it as you don't care so why should they. They know if it was important to you... you would MAKE time to attend.

    Hello m:

There's no letter that you can write that will take care of this. You need to turn yourself in and tell the judge in person.
