You can get a lot of different types of jobs with a felony conviction on your record. If there are any prohibitions, it would be contingent upon what the conviction was concerning. Also, it would help us here to know if you are on probation or parole in order to give you the best answers. There may be special conditions applicable if you are still on probation or parole.

First, you put together a resume and a cover letter template that you can tailor to the kind of job it is that you are going for. Second, you look in the paper and on the Internet and go to job fairs to look for available jobs around where you would like to work. Third, you see what the requirements for a particular position are as far as what to submit, and then submit things according to the requirements of the potential employer.

If that doesn't work, then you could try a temp agency for work for awhile. Could lead into something you might really like eventually, though.

When asked on an application about any sort of convictions/criminal history, be honest and forthright with your answer. Also, I have yet to see it on a job application where you could not attach an additional sheet of paper describing the circumstances and outcome of a crime that you committed and what you have done that is positive and proactive in the meantime since the conviction.

When you get an interview of any kind, you are honest and upfront with the interviewer without belaboring the points concerning your past describing how sorry you are for what you have done and what you have learned in order to not ever do what you did again.

Since you are now a convicted felon, going immediately into a desirable career for you might not be going to happen right away. Depending on what crime you committed, you may need to prove yourself to potential employers for the career after which you seek by getting and maintaining employment that might not be the most ideal for you, but is none-the-less employment that you could put on a resume and be able to say that you are and have been being a productive and supportive member of society and for your own family as well, if that might be the case with you concerning a family.

I notice you are featured on the site - what is your involvement? I realize you get paid for getting the word out. Is this answer part of that?

Also notice you've posted the site 10 times and sometimes you're handicapped, other times you're a convicted felon.

Bravo Judy!! Our ever the on the ball detective...... you've successfully uncovered another obvious "recruiter" for that web site!! The Sherlock Holmes/Sir Conan Doyle Award for Uncovering Jerks is in the mail post haste. I agree with your answer 100%. Just how many "jobs" can a felon hold? It seems that the "one" job he does "hold" must pay pretty well, pretty well indeed. No sense having him actually go to work and make an honest living. Hmmmmm. Must get pretty boring having to keep coming onto AMHD and posting over and over.....the same question. Please try a diffent site next time, ok? Thanking you in advance.....

Well, he's on another site as a disabled Veteran (posting this same site) and another as a handicapped person so I have to doubt his sincerity.

And I have too much time on my hands.

Can't give you a greenie - you have to wait in line.

Can't this guy keep his story straight for goodness sake!! Jeesh!! Sherlock Holmes strikes again......or is it Agatha Christie or Miss Marple?

Oh yes, I am sure he's sincere alright. Sincere about working hard, or hardly working. Don't know which.
