Hello j:

Ask your PO, or get a copy of the rules and procedures manual and find out for yourself.

Shock probation is for when you are incarcerated Excon - not while on probation. It's where you petition the court while you are in prison. A hearing is held before the judge who originally sentenced you. You are brought to the venue where you were sentenced. If the judge decides to give you probation - that's the shock - you either get it or not. Don't know where they came up with the moniker of shock probation - but leave it to the state to devise something colorful.

Each state is different and you'll just have to contact your friend's attorney for the guidelines concerning your friend. Depends also on the crime and how much time the sentence imposed was and also how much time the person has already served.
