Can a sex offender live with children in their families or their own children if the offense is not on them

I highly think, NOT!! That's why they are call and registered as "SEX OFFENDERS", therefore they should not be around children under a certain age. You need to call DPS or police to make certain. Doesn't matter if the offense wasn't on the kids they are living with or not. It's to protect all kids from them therefore, that's why they are registered as "SEX OFFENDERS" for the rest of their lives.

First of all there is a 60% rate of falsely accused and convicted sex offenders. Before you assume all Sex Offenders that are registered and are called Sex Offenders for a reason do some research. The Judicial System is in serious need of reformation due to criminals who admit to crimes getting lower to no sentences and those who refuse to admit to something they did not do get higher punishments. Attorney's do NOT care if the person is innocent or not they only care about winning a case and go so far is to cheat and lie in the process to get convictions warranted or not. Especially since Sex Crime cases are handled completely different then other criminal cases no evidence is needed for a conviction only 1 person saying something happened, doesn't even have to be the victim stating it, can and does result in a convictions all the time. Most of these cases are also founded from custody battles or teenagers being intimate with their consensual girlfriends/boyfriends. There is No law that says a Sex Offender cannot live with children each case has its own regulations of what that Sex Offender can and cannot do based on their criminal history if any and the supposed crime committed.

Agree with Anon. The list is to give the community notice of whether your neighbor has a history. If (s)he is on the list then one can follow up and determine what thread exists.

I agree with you. I think sometimes justice is un fair and need to look into it and be sure they don't mess up someone life because of he or she is saying therefore not being true just to get person out their lives...

The answer to the OP's question is it depends on what the laws of your jurisdiction and particular case are. Are you on probation? Parole? Suspended sentence? Or is this a past issue that is just lingering on the SOR's 20 year requirement (in my jurisdiction)?

I believe the board that rates you as a 1,2, or 3 SO is defined as to what you can and can not do.

As I am typing this, I am thinking (not terribly helpful to you) that if these were children you had post offense and the state were to deprive you of your fundamental right to custody of your children, that might be an interesting Supreme Court case.

I am a sex offender. I want to say that it is very easy to be labeled as one. All it takes is one small mistake. In my case I had a lot of porn on my computer, and one of the files happened to be of two fifteen yr olds. When my neighbor used my computer he found it on there and reported it to the police. Now I face 13 years on probation and I have already been in jail for 2 years. It is near immpossibel to find a job or a place to live when you have to register. I am currently homeless, I am using my ex-wifes computer to search for work and a place to live. I can't live with her because there is a church down the street from her house, and a homeless shelter won't take a sex offender. Where does that leave me on the street.Every thing I have read on this page about our justice system is correct. I agree with the registry but it has its faults. What has happened is that a lot of the serous offenders have found loopholes, so the system has cracked down. Which has resulted in people that otherwise would have never been convicted. People that don't try to have or do anything illegal. Yes all it takes is word of mouth for a conviction. Some detectives that are not as corrupt will check into a persons creditability, but usually that is as far as it goes.
One last thought before I go. Don't bash a sex offender. I never thought I would be labeled as one, and did the same **** ***** sex offender this and ***** sex offender that. I just want to say now reconsider not every one is as how they are labeled. It could happen to anybody.

Just to be clear:
You did something that is a crime. Whether it is a good idea to criminalize such conduct is another matter. But in your case you were not innocent.
