I am a convicted felon

I live in the state of California so if anyone can help me please or give me any advive I would appriecate it very much. I am a recovering addict. I have almost five years clean. When I was using, I was a totally different person and went a little crazy, stupid crazy. Anyway, I was convicted of a felony and on May 29 I will offically be off probation. I now have been a productive member of society for almost 5 years, basically, jail scared the crap out of me, I got clean and haven't been in any trouble since.

Like I mentioned before, I live in California and I am a contract employee in a state office.
My boss loves me and really is pushing me to become permanant employee for the state. How do I tell her about my past. I'm almost positive she wouldn't judge me, but my guilt and shame override this friendship we have.

Can any one tell me how to get a record expunged? What does this process intel? Is it true you can never get a state job if you have been convicted of a felony? How do I tell someone I respect and admire that I use to be a huge menace to society?

Please, any advice anyone has is very appreicated.

Call a lawyer. And you should be proud of yourself.

The process to explunge a criminal record is to make a petition to the court, part of the issue is that you just got off of probation ( which means your sentence just ended. Nomally they are going to look for a number of years after the end of your sentence

Next of course if this is a national secuirty position, even explunged records are visable to them. And many people have state jobs with felonies but it can depend on what job.

I am surprised they don't already know,

But yes to start you would get an attorney to see if you meet the requriements and file for you
