9 counts of theft under $5000.00/first offence

I resigned my position at work last March because I was caught on tape stealing money out of the tntil from my employer. I was there for 13 years. The reason for stealing was I became addicted to Cocaine (I was not in my right mind) I am a 47 year old female with allot of regrets and remorse. They are charging me with 9 counts of theft under $5000.00 as I just got my summons 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been going to counseling. When they approached me they said I could resign with an OK letter of reference (which they did) and now their throwing this at me..What are your thoughts if any?
