24 Answers Does anyone know what David Rothenberg is doing now? He was a 6 year old boy who was set on fire by his father in 1983 after him and his mother were divorced. He survived but suffered third-degree burns to 90 percent of his body. His father Charles was sentenced to 13 years, but was released after serving only about 6 1/2 years. His mother Marie wrote a book about it in 1984 and a tv movie was made in 1988 starring Bernadette Peters and Dan Lauria from Wonder Years. Both were good but very disturbing. I heard he was finally sentenced to 25 years two years ago thanks to California's 3 strikes law for unrelated weapons and other charges. He should have gotten life for something so horrible, especially since he had been a career criminal since the 50s. David now calls himself Dave and has appeared on Bold and the Beautiful in 1997 and on a talk show about 3 or 4 years ago. I heard he even met his father in jail around 1996, hard to believe. I heard some sketchy reports that him and his mother are no longer on speaking terms which is sad considering all that she has done for him. If anyone has any updates on his life and family situation, I would like to know. What a brave guy, I salute him. |

| I looked into it but it wasn't him, he dropped Rothenberg many years ago and now just goes by Dave, Thanks anyway. I last saw him in 2004 or 2005, pretty sure it was on the now cancelled Jane Pauley show. He seems happy and doing well, good for him. I wanted to know about the rumors that he no longer talks to his mother because I find it very hard to believe. She practically lived at the hospital while he recovered and took great care of him for many years and operations later. He really owes her his life and wouldn't be alive without her. | ||||

| Update on David Rothenberg, or Dave Dave as he now calls himself. He has a myspace page at Dave Dave on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads. He has pictures of himself and says he lives in Provo, Utah. I've seen him on talkshows before, so I'm sure the pictures are legit. I tried to send him a message, but he only allows people who know him personally to talk to him. Poor guy still has a lot of scars but he seems happy. Still no info about rumors of him not talking to his mother anymore or being involved with a goth subculture, although some of his photos and friends appear to be goth types. | ||||

Proof on Youtube and even a dog can see that but only if you know it, because I saw Larry King to with Dave Dave and the only thing that I tought was "what a strange guy", but now I know why. | ||||
