| statute of limitations I am a Canadian who has currently been living abroad for almost 7 years now. I have a question concerning my credit card debts. My credit cards originate in Ontario, where I'm originally from, and I have approiximately $8,000 debt. I moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1999, moved to England in 2001, and have been living in South Korea since 2004. My debt occured while living in Vancouver and England, where I found myself unable to repay my monthly installments. My last payment was July 2001 and I have not made any contact with the credit card companys since then. I am looking at moving back to Canada and would like to restore my credit rating. I would like some advice on what is the best way to find out about my credit rating and what legal rights I have. What is the statute of limitations in my situation? Is it better for me to settle or to not do anything if the statute has expired?
