Statute of Limitations on old debt in ontario

Hello, I need advice on the statute of limitations for ontario on an old debt. Last year I was contacted by a collection agency regarding a debt that a business (corporation) my husband and I owned which stopped operations in early spring of 2006, owed money for to a business. I told them that business closed (no money left) and they said I personally owed the money (Debt is from Feb 2005) and they have the signed credit form I filled out which states I personally guanteed the credit. I kept insisting I did not owe this money, they harassed me at work and tried to contact my husband (his name was not on any credit apps only mine). The last thing I heard from them is that they were going to sue me. I was fired from my work shortly there after this(July2007)(partially because of the harassing calls). I received nothing after they said this. I received a phone call from my old employer stating that she received a letter that they wanted to garnish my wages. This was the last thing I heard till I finally received a letter at my home stating they have a writ of seizue for my assets. (Letter is made out to me and my husband) Can anyone help me? Can they do that? (In 2007 we refinanced our home there is no more equity in it).
