judgements on a credit report

how does a judgement get to your credit report? if i had a judgement against me, the court did not ask for my SSN. how will the credit agencies find out about the judgement? does the plantiff have to do something to make the credit agencies aware of the judgement?

thanks!

jw

hello Roswelljw

Ok let me see if I understand what you are saying. First you want to know how a judgement gets on your credit report and you say the court didn't ask for your ssn

Think now you knew you had a judgement didn't you? a judgement comes when you have a bill you don't pay it and the creditor sues you in court and if you don't show up they get a judgement by default. that judgement is a matter of public record now why would you think the court would have to have your ssn? when you got that line of credit or what ever it was the company sueing you already had that The deliquelint account was already showing on your credit report. If you do not take care of the judgement that creditor will come after your wages, bank accounts

Slow makes a good point. A judgement is just another strike against you. Your credit was already ruined by the debt being defaulted on.

But to answer your question, a judgement is a matter of public record, the credit bureaus scan public records for references. Your SSN was part of the credit application so it wasn't necessary for the court to ask for it.
