Authorized user wants to take name of account

My husband and myself are an authorized user on my mother's c.c. card account. The credit card shows up on both of our credit reports and list us as authorized users. We want to get our names of the account. How do we do that and also, what effect will our credit have when our names are removed, will the card still show on our credit file. There has never been a late payment, it just has an extremely high balance and limit. How will our credit be effected?

Your mother has to make a request from the card issuer to cancel the authorized users. After you get confirmation of this, wrote a letter to the credit bureaus asking the account be removed.

If you decide to go ahead with this your credit score could actually drop depending on a few items. Even with a high balance that card is giving your more available credit as long as the limit has not been reached. Say the card has a 20K limit and your mom runs $10K. That still tell the credit folks you have $10k more available.
