Dispute/Validation Letters to Creditors

We have sent a few distpute letters to creditors. Neither creditor has responded and it has been at least 45-50 days and they still have not responded. Does anyone have an example of a follow up letter I need to send them? And I don't know for sure, but since they have not responded and the items are past the statute of limitations for collection in our state (Texas), doesn't the item have to be removed from our credit?

What are you disputing? If this is to clear up something on your credit report then send the dispute to the credit bureau, not the creditors.

We had ask for validation of the debt, which was never received. I did send letters to the credit bureaus also. It does show "in dispute" on our credit report. The creditor has never responded to our request for validation. Isn't there a follow up letter to do and can't we get this removed from our credit?

Has the creditor sued you? Or have you just received dunning notices?

We are not being sued. It is an old credit card, sold to LVNV then sold to Redline. I actually have a suit against Redline for improper collection efforts (violated the law) and are in the process of settlement negotations with them. LVNV is still reporting it on our credit as recently as 3/08. They haven't had the account in a year or so.

I just went through this myself with junk debt collectors.
Everything went smoothly with the info at Fair Debt Collection
They have a section about disputing debt collections which includes a Follow up letter.
Good luck, hopefully you've been keeping records. After you've dealt with the junk collectors,
show your proof and records to the credit burrows and they will remove it
from your credit report if it indeed does not belong on there.
