We are having a problem with paying our credit card debt. The interest rates are killing us (30%) in some cases. I pay on line and even my own bank who I have been with for twenty years gives us due dates on weekends but then doesn't process until the following Monday. This has resulted in late fees and high interest. I have talked to the various banks/companies about lowering my rates and get little action.

The questions are, are there any debt reduction services that aren't scams? If so which Would you recommend? How would this affect our credit rating?

Are you late on any of your cc? That may be why the interest rate is so high. As far as your bank I think I would be looking at switching banks or stop paying on line if its is causing you problems.
