IN Nova Scotia Canada, I bought some furniture 7.5 years ago on credit with 1 yr to pay without interest. I paid for 6 months then lost my job and couldn't anymore. I have never been contacted about this but I received a letter yesterday from a collection agency that is demanding full payment of 1670.00 or 5,500.00. They have the date of last activity registered on account as 3 yrs later then my documentation. How do I go about getting this off my credit report as it is longer then 6 yrs?

The following link will provide directions for disputing items on the three US credit reporting agencies. I don't know if these agencies are the ones you would deal with in Canada.
