Credit card judgement

I am dealing with a lawyer that represents a debt collection agency that has a asterisk behind their company for doing bad things for collecting bad debts. he went to the sheriffs office to try to collect a credit card that was charged off as bad debt 02/2001. The estimated date for removal on my credit report is 01/2008.what can he do with this old credit card that expired.he wrote another letter the other day stating that if I dont respond in 5 days he could put a judgement against me, or he could take things that belong to me. he says that I am default and they can start any time
what should I do. I have no money , I can not afford a lawyer
