Collection for Timeshare Fees

I paid for a "vacation club" not really a timeshare and now have stopped paying for the maintenance fees for the last 5 years. I had tried to sell the use of the unit but was not successful, other than accumulating more fees. I do not use the vacation club and have told them I will no longer use it. I now have a collection agency calling me from the US. I live in Canada and the vacation club was purchased in Mexico. There is no title to the vacation club. Can a US agency hurt my credit rating in Canada? There is nothing on my credit bureau concerning this. Is there a statute of limitation for how long they can try to collect this debt?

I just saw a video about the problem you're having. It's made by a company called Timeshare Relief. Check out the video
