I was in a relationship for 3 years. In May 2005 I wanted to purchase a truck but was going to have a high interest rate, so my boyfriend said to have it in his name and I would be co-signer because he had excellent credit. We broke up in November. Since I've had the truck I have made all the payments and have possession of it. I am in the process of re-financing my house and they want to pay the truck off to lower my debt-ratio. The truck is in both our names so if it is payed off does this mean he is half owner??
What can I do??

It sounds like you both own it.

Call up your ex bf and arrange to have his name taken off of the truck.

Or perhaps he has forgotten about it.

Hi,
If both your names are on the title to the truck, then he owns half of it.
If it is still being financed, chances are the bank or finance company has the title.
In most states, he will have to "sign over" the deed to you, in your name only.
If his name is still on the title, my best guess (I am not a lawyer) is that he will still own half the truck! If you go to sell it, he will also probably have to sign the bill of sale as one of the owners.
