Sand Art?

No water, at least not how we used to do them.
I could never get a desert picture with mine like I wanted to but have seen some like that.

You put layers of sand in the bottle and after each layer you use the tool(s) to create the curves and angles you want

I never did use that but have seen stuff like it.

Thanks for replying..I've tried the dry sand in a glass, I can make mountains and birds but that's about it! The information I need is about how to do the "Squand" Mine looks like the one on the reply! The box shows cool colored sand towers under the water in that little aquarium. I just don't know how to do it, Did you find any instructions? I think I need to mix the sand (cause it comes dry) with water or something before I put it in the aquarium.Thanks hope you had a good weekend

It's possible that the instructions for how to use it are available on the Internet somewhere. I haven't found them yet, even though I have looked. Perhaps there is a similar type of art that can be found in searches? Don't know yet. I would suggest searching for underwater sand sculpture art for one of the searches. Or, maybe use the word "craft" instead of the word "art" also. I will keep trying to see what I can find...

Now the idea appears to be a great one - brightly coloured sand that you put in a bowl , play and mould with under water and when you take it out of the water it is magically dry!
Well the reality is quite different - true under water it is like gungy clay and above dry sand but what they don't tell you is that there is very little you can do with it once in or out of the water.

My kids couldn't make anything with it apart from a big pile and when you remove it from the water little bits of sand float on the surface. Basically they were bored with it in about 10 minutes
You are supplied with a 'sculpting' tool but it is pretty useless apart from digging holes. Also the joys of trying to get the sand back in the bottle with out losing half of it is a mothers nightmare.

Yes its not expensive, under 5.00 from woolworths etc but I haven't found anyone that thinks it very good. Also when you mix the sand colours to make castles and scenes as suggested by the manufacturer you end up with a big mess.
All I can say is stick with the normal sand and help them make sand castles - its much more fun!
