    DIY small gift/craft ideas
I will be leaving my company this Friday and wanted to make some small gifts for the ladies Im leaving behind. I have worked here for nearly 7 years, and have very close bonds to the 7 ladies in my team. Every Christmas I have always made a handcrafted gift for them, and I didn't want to let this year slide by. I thought originally about making my tie blankets for them, and this is still an option, but not sure if I can ge the materials in time. I have made them soaps, candles, ornaments, scarves, and cookie mix jars in the past. Im looking for something not so christmasy this year (as it isn't christmas yet) and a little more personal... any ideas? I really want to let them know how I appreciate their friendship and how much I will miss them. ANY suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks :)

How about making a gift basket for them.

If you know their likes and dislikes you could get those and put them in a basket and decorate.

    For example,
Cofee lovers could get coffee making titbits or cookies that go well with coffee.

Tea lovers with herb teas and a tea cup.

Or choco lovers could have odd bits of chocy treats in a cute bottle or basket.

    Or nut lovers.

Or Bath salts and aromatherapy baskets with scented candles.

Or you could make similar baskets for all with the same treats.

At least this will save time for you to create something crafty and it will be unique.

How To Create Homemade Gift Baskets

    BY PIONEER THINKING

    Put your imagination to work!

Imagine giving a gift that reflects the whims or fancies, personality or passions of the person receiving it. Put away those old tired gifts and create something they will truly love.

What would they really like to receive, what do you give the expert gardener, the fisherman, the golfer, the book reader? Make them an original theme gift basket. Full of goodies they really can use.

Superb Tea Basket: Great for Elderly Relatives

In a basket of your choosing, add some exotic teas, strainer, china tea cup or mug, shortbread biscuits, napkins, sugar (wrap it in cellophane and tie a ribbon around it), book about teas, flowers etc.

    The Fisherman

Add a bag of fishing tackle (hooks, lines and sinkers), a fishing magazine, a fish smoker, you can even throw in a can of sardines for the fun of it.

    The Gardener

A selection of gardening gear, hand cream, bulbs, potting mix, gloves, books, straw hat, gardening accessories - garden gnome, gardening apron.

Other Theme Baskets Suggestions You Can Make Are:
    Tired parents
    Gracefully Aging
    Naughty but Nice
    Computer nerd
    Stress pack
    Jelly-bean-a-colic
    Gourmet Chef
    The Art of sleeping in
    Teddy Touch

Gifts baskets can be fun to make if you let your imagination run free. Packaging them can be just as fun. A romantic basket can be packet in a top hat. Fishing in a tackle box. The possibilities are endless. ENJOY!

    "Comments on this post
alkalineangel agrees: thanks - you always have good ideas..."

    It is a pleasure.
I have actually been researching this for sometime and was hoping to start a home based business along the same lines.
Gift baskets are not that common here and I was hoping to try it out.

I have already made one for my mum and bro, they loved it.

Hopefully someone else would come along with other ideas for you:)

I do really like the idea of making the gift baskets personalized according to the person to whom it is being given.

Gift baskets don't have to be huge either. Just something that will create a nice memory...

A great christmas craft might take time but you can do this together so you can enjoy your time together with your team.

    YOU WILL NEED
8 foam balls (for you and your ladies) you can buy more if you want to do more
    Lots of berry pins
    Lots of sequince
(these can be perchased at any craft stall and if you live in australia, you can get them from Lincraft)

So what you do is you get a berry pin and thread a sequince through it then press the berry pin down. Repeat until the whole foam ball is covered

    TIPS
I suggest you start from the middle then work your way up or down
You should overlap the sequence and pins but not too much(slightly overlap them)

After you have all finished, you can all right a nice message and then send them to each other just like clough said to create a nice memory

All great ideas... I did the same for my best friend's birthday, because she's hard to shop for...

BIG LOT'S is fantastic! If you have one of those near you, stop by and see what they have...

I made her a gift basket with shower gels and bath beads, cookie flavored coffees, christmas flavoted teas, some nail polishes, some cookies and crackers, and a stuffed animal...

Maybe make the actual basket yourself or make a scarf to throw in there, since it's scarf weather now!!

Good luck. I wish I worked with someone like you!

I personally like the idea of the tie blankets because you want them to have a keepsake from you and not consumable items that will be gone shortly. You want to be gone but not forgotten. It doesn't take that long to make the blankets once you get them started. Make the blankets personal around there favorite colors or home décor.

I once received (and still have) a lavender seed stuffed eye pillow/mask. It was sewn like a mask (no strings) and filled with lavender seeds (like a bean bag but nice smelling) I love it and use it a lot. She made it with a silky material on one side and a decorative material on the side that doesn't touch your face.
When you lay it on your eyes it is very cool and stimulates your senses with the aroma, plus it blocks everything out:eek::D
