software ownership

if my company purchases a computer from a bankruputcy; do we legally own the cad software installed on the computer purchaed ?

My understanding is that ownership of software that is pre-installed from the factory transfers with ownership of the PC, but the ownership of software installed by the end user is controlled by who has the physical media (i.e., the installation CD). Thus you probably have rights to run the Windows Operating Software, but not the CAD software, unless you have the installation discs.
