Got laid off, and 9 months pregnant.

I got hired on to work at a great job in November (actual job started in March). My job title was a Document control Site manager. They decided to switch softwares and the new software eliminated about 90% of my duties. So needless to say I have been sitting around trying to keep myself busy with the little there is to do. We were going to be moving on-site soon, that would have added more work. Instead of waiting until the work picked up on-site, they laid me off. It was a very large corporate company which has another downtown office. Being 9 months pregnant I lost my insurance and salary. Do I have a case for discrimination? Everyone I talk to about this seems to think so. If so how could I go about this? Thank you so much. I am desperate.

Well, you should probably consult a lawyer. However, with the information you've provided, it would appear that your being pregnant is coincidental. To my knowledge a business is not required to keep you on just because you are pregnant. They are not allowed to fire you because of it either. But, from what you've provided, it would appear that your position became unnecessary.

It is terrible that this happened, and I am so sorry for you. However, if your question is if you have a strong case, I would have to say "no," at least going by the info you provided.
