A co-worker of mine is an employee of a prime-contractor on a Federal project. One of their sub-contractors granted my co-worker access to their Outlook calendar to facilitate team communication. My co-worker suspect that the sub-contractor is over-billing and charging for work not performed.
Is it legal for my co-worker to print the sub-contractor’s entire Outlook calendar and submit it to their HR department as one piece of evidence supporting their suspicions?
I’m concerned about my co-worker violating any of the new computer and/or electronic communication laws I sometimes hear about on the news.
Why would the contractor allow him access to outlook callendar if he was doing something underhanded ? What you two intend to do is entirely underhanded, let alone illegal, notwithstanding downright nasty.
It would be illegal for that person to print out that calendar that belongs to another company. It's called theft. If the employee suspects wrongdoing they can bring this to the attention of someone in charge of the project - not the HR dept. The calendar could be subpoenaed to back up or refute the charges if wrongdoing is found out.
