    Can you lose your job while on family medical leave?
    I filled out the fmla papers late as i was un-aware of them but they are filled out now and sent in my job wants me to come back to work five weeks before my dr release if i don't come back early they will fire me help

    'An employee must provide notice of his or her intent to take family and medical leave not less than 30 days before leave is to begin or, in emergencies, as soon as is practicable.'

    If something unexpected happened, such as a premature birth or sudden illness, you might have more of a chance pleading your case. Hard to say. You might not get far by saying that you were unaware, since part of your job is knowing the rules. The odds sound against you because of the demand to return to work or be fired.
