What kind of cookies should I make?

Asked Dec 9, 2008, 08:50 AM — 8 Answers
I'm going to make cookies on Sunday with my mother-in-law and she asked if I would make two different kinds of cookie dough. So I know that I'm already going to make sugar cookies. I made them last year and that was a lot of fun. Well I don't know what other kind to make. Maybe Gingerbread?

I appreciate the help! =)

I think making shortbread cookies would be a great idea. After all, they go along with the holiday season. No good though, if you don't make them with real butter.

I love gingerbread cookies and almond crescents.

SNOW COVERED ALMOND CRESCENTS

1 c. Butter, softened
3/4 c. Powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. Almond extract or 2 tsp. Vanilla
2 c. Flour
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 c. Uncooked oatmeal
1/2 c. Finely chopped almonds
Powdered sugar

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Beat butter, sugar and almond extract until fluffy. Add flour and salt; mix until well blended. Stir in oats and almonds. Using level measuring tablespoons, shape dough into crescents. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 14 to 17 minutes or until bottoms are light golden brown. Remove to wire rack. Sift remaining sugar generously over warm cookies. Cool completely. Store tightly covered. Makes about 4 dozen.

ZoeMarie agrees: do you have a gingerbread man recipe? I have the cutters!

I don't know what the best recipe for gingerbread is.
I know I like it spicy
INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg yolk
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until smooth. Stir in molasses and egg yolk. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg; blend into the molasses mixture until smooth. Cover, and chill for at least one hour.
2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until firm. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks. Frost or decorate when cool
