Marble Serving Trivets for Hot Dishes

This isn't about cooking per se, but I didn't know what other category to put it in.

I am looking for nice trivets for serving hot dishes (casseroles, lasagna, etc.) on the table. I have seen some attractive marble ones in some cookware stores and catalogs, but I'm not sure if marble can actually take the heat of a dish right out of the oven without cracking.

Will marble tolerate the heat of a hot dish without damage? Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Marble Serving Trivets for Hot Dishes

I am not sure about the marble either. You can buy attractive hand forged aluminium ones that will take the heat. See www.wendellaugust.com.
