hi, i have several pieces of corian window sills , and i need some good info on spicing them together to make one long one , can i biscut join them ? , could i dowel them ? , any info would be appreciated , and will i have to refinish the top to hide the seams or splices ?????, i've worked consrtuction for 17 years , but never really worked much with corian.

you could try on some scraps to kreg jig screw it together if the underside wont be seen

Corian is joined with Corian adhesive. If done properly the seams will be practically invisible. It is not difficult, You cut with a 40 tooth carbide saw blade, use a guide of some type because you must have very straight cuts. Sand sawn edges lightly. The adhesive is a two part mixture colored to match the Corian. The problem is that you can't buy the adhesive. Its Duponts way of protecting their installers. The only way you can buy it is out the back door of some fabricator. He is not likely to sell it to you because he could loose his license. The seams of Corian are not nearly as strong the product itself so joints must be supported. Biscuits or dowels may hold the parts together but it won't be joined together. I doubt that biscuits or dowels will really hold. I doubt that the wood glue will really hold to the Corian. Corian cannot be screwed together unless plastic anchors are used. Screwing directly into Corian will crack the Corian be cause it has no give to it.

I have heard that the adhesive for the Fountianhead solid surface counter tops can be used on Corian. I do not know if that is correct.

CA (cyanoacrylate) glue will join Corian. Super Glue and Crazy Glue are cyanoacrylate.
CA glue is available at hobby shops and woodworking stores. Pen turners often use it in making pens and sometimes as a finishing product. Pen turners often make pens out of Corian. It is available in thin , medium and thick viscosity. I would use the thick. An acelerater will also be required. At one time I had the web site that sold Corian pen blanks and the Corian adhesive. Last time I tried to find it I couldn't.

Resurfacing is just sanding, usually to 600 aor 1200 grit.
