    Shower base for basement bath.
I am remodeling our basement shower stall. The floor is concrete. The drain rises 2 1/2 inches above the floor. Will I be able to use a ready made shower pan or will I have to make my own?

Lets get you over to plumbing so some actual plumbers will see this. I'm going to assume your pipe is a 2" PVC and you are in luck. I install Swanstone shower pans in sites like yours all the time. The pan is set to the floor with baseball sized clobs of modified thinset like you'll need for your wall tile after you put up Hardibacker board. Now the Swanstone black ribbed rubber collar gets a bit of plumbers grease inside and out and slips down over that 2"pipe and into the Swanstone drain sump. Cut the pipe later with a Dremel wheel.

Salk... I saw at your other post that the pipe is 2" cast iron... I also posted this answer at that thread!

First thing you will need to do is to determine if the drain pipe lines up in a way that works with a pre-fabricated shower floor.

Check out Swanstone Products for best options and measurements. If your old drain lays out so it is lined up or near to where the new drain will go then pop back and we can discuss how to install the drain.

If your old pipe doesn't line up then you will either need to chop up the floor a bit and locate the new drain to proper placement or you will need to custom build a shower pan...

Easiest all in all will be to get a base that has drain location closest to your layout and then chat with us so we talk you through relocating...
