Hello,
I need to have the concrete floor in a room 16'x23' raised one inch so it can be even with the floor in an adjacent room. Is there a way of doing that short of busting the whole floor and pouring a new concrete at the correct level.

You could try getting some floor jacks by either buying or renting them. Dig places underneath around the edges that you can with enough room to accommodate the floor jacks. Put pieces of 2 x 4's or 4 x 6's underneath each floor jack so that the jacks don't sink into the ground. Gradually add rocks and small stones to fill up the space so that the floor will eventually be at the desired level.

I and a friend leveled a very large section of a driveway last summer that way.

You might consider laying down a 1" tongue and groove plywood subfloor on top of the existing concrete.

Good point above. I hadn't thought of that. Would prevent there being a lot of heavy work if the floor is going to stay at the level that it is at. It would help to know where the original poster lives so that it can be reasoned that the ground under the concrete is not going to be likely to move anymore. Around where I live, which is along the Mississippi River in the upper Midwest, the ground is always shifting.
