Hi
I have a 8' wood fence that was cemented in and now is leaning. They were to be put 4' down to avoid the frost and now I can not go back to have them repair it. Is it feeble to dig down further beside and add more cement??? Do I have to lag into the old cement??? Oh this is a 5 year old fence. Any help would be thankful.

If the posts are down 4' and the fence still leans you must have some preety soft soil. Do you think it is the long term effect of the wind coming from the same direction for 5 years? You can dig down on the windward side of the posts with a post hole digger. Once the post is stood up straight there will be a wedge shaped hole that will need to be filled in with concrete. I would add something more than just this concrete. Either install some diagonal supports to the top of the posts or bury some landscaping timbers perpendicular to the post to stop the movement. If the fence is soild you might alter the slats to let more wind pass through and offer less resistance.

when you dig a post hole if the bottom of the hole is smaller then the diameter of the hole when the ground shifts it will push the post and concrete out. whenever a post hole is dug you need to make the bottom larger then the diameter of the hole so the ground can't push it out or cause it to lean. chances are your holes were made incorrectly.

i have 15 years exp wiyh fence yes you are going to have to brake the concrete to fix it but ur best bet is to hire some one cause it is hard and aalot of work if any more questions fill free to email me any time

no the people who doug his holes r not rong it was they way they watered them they water only the top while the bottom stayed dry they thought that the ground was wet enough to hardin the concrete but was wrong so as the bottom was dry the top started to form that is why his fence is leaning thanks
