Can pressure treated lumber be primed and painted as normal wood would?

Pressure treated wood is still wood. It may kill off any bugs that lunch on it, but it still adsorbs water, and expands and contracts. I have had much better luck with stain than paint on either plain or treated wood. Stain will not give you the bright colors or gloss that paint will.

Hi,

I am planning to treat our deck with a long lasting finish.
I read that semi-transparent is the best choise for the horizontal deck surface.
I was advidiced that painting white color to the railing might not work since PT wood
is darker ( greener). I am wondering what kind of results you was after painting.
I am planning to apply semi-transparent stain for giving water resistance and shight
color change to the deck floor and white solid color to the railing.

Please respond with your experience/suggestions.
