    header size
    does anyone know what the universal code is for a 16ft garage door header on a gable end, so not load berring, do two 2X12's work or do you have to use lam beams thanks, I live in North Dakota

    There is not "universal code" but I am sure your state or county has a code you must follow. Call them to be sure you are in code, did you pull a permit? Normally 2 2x12 with a layer of 1/2' plywood between them nailed and glued together will be acceptable.
