Bathroom - ceramic tile new walls or new floor first?

2 Answers Hello I am getting ready to tile a bathroom that was built from scratch.. There was no bath there before it was built.... I have the floor tiles, which will be set over half-inch cement board with thin set. The subfloor and cement board are already installed and ready for tile, which will be sheets of the one inch hexagon tiles in white. The walls are done and will have 3 X 6 subway tiles up to about 48 inches or so, and the tub surround gets the same wall tile. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing floor or wall before the other... I was set to do the floor first, but wanted some second opinions.. I can think of a few pros and cons for each scenario... Having the floor finished would mean that I need to protect it from falling adhesive when I do the walls.. But tiling walls over a tiled/finished, known floor height seems good also... THANKS |

| We Always Tile The Walls First, If Not Your Right you'll Be getting a lot Of Trash Through The New Grout On The Floor, I'm Sure You May Drop A Few Tiles On The Floor, Maybe Drag Your Bucket With Mortar Across The New Floor As Well. One Other Thing Is You Have A Tub Face Your Tiling, I Will Look Better If The Floor Butts Into The Tile On The Tub. That Will Keep The Grout Line On The Floor And Not On The Tub Wall Itself.
