10 foot garage door opening, cut out of 12" block wall, from small 2 story commercial b

i cut out a 10' garage door opening in small commercial buliding(2 story,12" block)

i have put and adequate steel header in place, but somebody told me i am to "tie-in" bothe ends of the header to the masonry...is this a requirement?

or is this just an option?

can anybody help me?

are there any illustrations of this procedure that i can view to guide me in the right direction?

thank you

i do not have a brick building...you did not seem to understand my question.

okay, bigshotbil, I said brick instead of 'block'. I did understand your question as you put it. Is there something I am missing in your dialogue ? I may be a woman but it doesnt mean I dont understand building, and yes,I have assisted in building a house physically. Does that qualify me?

Let me recap, you cut a l0 ft. garage door in a two story 'block'building and you are using a steel header (I do know what that is). The steel header in my garage goes across the top of the opening and is anchored into each side. Tieing in both ends is a requirement where I come from.
