Wild Tangent

I recently ran SPYBOT and it picked up 3 suspect problems - FAST CLICK - DSO EXPLOIT and WILD TANGENT. Spybot seemed to deal with the first two satisfactorily but on boot up I keep getting a message telling me that Wild Tangent cannot be located and gives the full C\Program\Wild Tangent\Appps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll. Checking in the programme files shows that indeed Wild Tangent does not exist but how can I get rid of this rogue programme message? please !

Check your start up file and remove any reference you find there. Otherwise wait for some of the others here.

First move: startup in Safe Mode and delete the folder:
C:\Program Files\WildTangent\
Then empty the recycle bin.
****
Click on Start>Run
write REGEDIT and press enter.
Search for
cdaEngine
(the search function "find" is in the EDIT item of the pulldown menu)
and delete the line in the right pane when found.
Press F3 to find the next occurence and delete, go on until no more occurence is found.
Shutdown, startup normally and check if it's gone. If not, we'll go somewhat deeper.

Software should be the last step of any spyware removal process...not the first. If the removal procedure is done out of sequence, your problems will just return the next time you restart your computer. If you’ve used a spyware removal program in the past, then you’ve likely already experienced this.

Try the Spyware-Adware Removal Kit that is available at the link below. By following this comprehensive 11 page, step-by-step document with screen shots, you will be able to restore your computer to like-new condition.
