Transfering music from my computer to my new iphone 3g

An angel bought me an iphone for Christmas. She was so excited that she was able to do this for me that she gave it to me earlier today. One problem: I am having a very difficult time trying to transfer music from my computer to my iphone. I legally own the music I wish to transfer: some of it I created myself, and the rest of it I paid for. Is it even possible to transfer music from my computer to my iphone? Thank you. Start by downloading iTunes, then import your music into iTunes. iTunes will let you sync all the music you currently own or possess, if it is on your computer it should sync, in some cases you may have to convert file formats however there are tools in iTunes to help you do this.
