sound problems

Ok so i got a new computor, intsalled everything fine...drivers..software etc etc. But i have a problem with my sound, i can hear stuff, and i can talk and skype and do voice msg's on msn BUT for some reason i can't speak on games like CSs and CnC. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is cus i've gone through all the sound options, re-installed the games and tryed pretty much everything i can think of.

Go into the control panel, and go to Sounds and Audio Devices, then on the tab that has the volume bar on it that you can slide around, click advanced.
Click on the first menu (I think it's file...as usual), and to to either Properties or Advanced (I think it's advanced..sorry, only have a Vista computer handty, and everything looks a little different), then you shuold be able to select Recording. Make sure that once you do that, the Microphone box is check, hit OK, and then check the box for "Select" under microphone. Make sure you're plugged into the microphone port, turn the volume up as high as you want in the microphone slider, and try it again. Hopefully it works

Even if they are new, they may be defective, but please start a NEW question when asking somthing new, don't just post a reply to a different question.
