I have an auto save ... I still don't have any chance locating this file anywhere in the computer??? Sorry, I had to ask ... I'm very desperate ...
hi
had u ever saved that file on ur computer
if yes then go n see in ur my recent document history
or u can search it
or if it has been deleted from ur computer then u can easily recover it
First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone elses. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.
I would see if you can take the disc to another PC that has a floppy drive to see if they can be recovered. If you erased the files on your PC its unlikley you can recover them. If they were saved straight to the floppy, then you can't recover them from the PC.
You can also try doing a CHKDSK on the floppy, what version of Windows do you have?
Auto save is not YOU saving the file at least once on your computer. AUTOSAVE is a temporary background file your software uses to recover docs after a system crash so you can return to editing them.
If you SAVE a file that has been AUTO-SAVED, the autosave file is destroyed at that moment. Period. The only way you will find this document on your hard drive is if you physically saved it at least once.
The floppy disk is unreadable? There are companies that specialize in data recovery. They are usually costly, but only you know how critical this file is. Also, it is only a floppy disk and a single file, the cost may not be as high as it is to recover an entire hard disk.
Ok, then try some of the free data recovery tools online. If those don't work, you may have to cough up some $ to have a company actually take your disk and examine it with some professional equipment to see if it can be recovered:
This is an extremely common problem when using floppy discs in Windows XP. I thought this problem had been resolved as of SP 2, but I guess not. If you can find one, take your floppy to a computer running Windows 98 or 2000 and pull up the files. Alternatively, you can run Linux to pull up the files.
An easy way to do that would be to download VirtualBox (it's free) and any distro of Linux you choose. You can then create a guest install of Linux to pull the files up on. Once you've copied the files over to the hard drive, format the disc in XP, then transfer the files back onto the disc.
Now this will do the trick providing you haven't damaged the actual disc or gotten it near any magnets.
