OPENING E.MAIL ATTACHMENTS USING OUTLOOK EXPRESS

I am running Oulook Express with Home Windows XP

I find that I am unable to open some if not all of received message attachments. A warning notice appears to tell me that they may be unsafe.

Someone kindly suggested that by selecting FORWARD in the toolbar this problem is overcome. Sadly not for me.

Cany any one help me without resorting to a registry edit.?

Re: OPENING E.MAIL ATTACHMENTS USING OUTLOOK EXPRE

If it's just a warning, and you are expecting an e-mail from that person, then open it.
If this is not an option, then you may have your firewall settings such as Zone Alarm or perhaps have your Anti-Virus settings set too high.
Do not open an e-mail that is not expected.
If you've set your e-mail to block certain files, then the message is redundant. So it must be a third party software.
If you can override it, then it's just a precaution.

Open up OE. Go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, SECURITY. Then remove the check mark out of the box that states: Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus. Problem solved.

Re: OPENING E.MAIL ATTACHMENTS USING OUTLOOK EXPRE

OE using Xp my question is the opposite, I disabled the warning message upon opening multiple pics in an email and now want it back.

I did the below but OE will not allow me to "apply" the changes and does not return the popup message. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong? I don't wan't my daughter to click on something and open a virus. Thanks, mjg
