Multimedia Audio Controller

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have Windows XP, and whenever I start up my computer I get the Newly Installed Hardware message saying that Multimedia Audio Controller has been detected and is not installed. I have not installed any new hardware and I have not reinstalled XP. I have never even heard of Multimedia Audio Controller, and I have no idea where it could possibly be. Can anyone help me please? Also unlike the other problems with Multimedia Audio Controller I still get sound.

This sounds like a device driver problem.

If you go to the Control Panel under Performance and Maintenance select System. Once that opens select the Hardware tab and then open Device Manager.

Look for Multimedia Audio Controller and see if it has an error, this is usually a yellow question mark. Right click on the device and select Update Driver, allow internet access for this search. If nothing is found you may have to go to your sound card or PC mfg (for an "integrated sound device") and download and install the driver.
