Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

Hi All,

I am happily using Office 2000 Pro. Someone sent me a Word document created in Office 2007 (ending in .docx) which I was unable to open.

I downloaded Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats from the link below, which claims to resolve this issue and allows Office 2000 and 2003 users to open these "incompatible docs".

I can now open the 2007 doc in Office 2000, but the text is giberish and symbols.

Any suggestions? (Note: I have not rebooted since the download as it was not indicated).

Download details: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats

THANKS!
